It boggles the mind to look at these figures and know that they are real, sitting somewhere and waiting to be looked upon.

Mighty fine, indeed. o.o

what's worse is that most of them are in boxes. this one and the lazlo one are on my printer atm, but hopefully they'll make it into the spring show for my art college so SOMEONE will get to see them in person XD;;;;;;

hah i should take a context picture so they get seen how i see them everyday!

I'm glad to hear that they'll be getting some love soon.

I can see why it was so very delicate. The detail work is fantastic, especially with the fingers, clothing edges, hair away from her face. Then the fish itself is amazing and I can barely imagine how it hangs on. Is there some internal structural support? I'm also curious as to whether it needed some sort of support during the drying and baking process. The balance must be a bit tricky too, though I can see her leaning away a bit (trying not to scare it away), plus there could be a base for all I know.

Even after a bit of reading I'm not totally familiar with Vaulker, so what's that object/part behind her? Also, are you planning to paint this too?

Now I'll go look up "overcast" in pottery while avoiding all of the weather results. :)

the fish is made of 'green stuff' kneadatite which makes it really light. after that i spray it separate and glue it on.

she is on a base, i just need to get pics of it. she's got an understructure of aluminum and magic sculpt so she's pretty solid, but delicate ^^ [link] here's a pic of her right before she was baked.

Vaulker is from my comic, SaintMaker's Square - the first 7 pages are on my website, viistar.com (been lazy about posting them here ^^; ) there is also a FB page with progress images [link]

she will stay gray cause i don't paint, and she needs to be gray to be judged at the spring show ^^

Ah, from the cut of the aluminum in the pre-bake picture I'm guessing the base will actually have some form to it. At the very least I'm even more impressed seeing how thin her legs are too.

I've since read the description of her that's on your profile page and kind of got lost a few sentences in. It seems like the story has a ton of action alone, never mind the character development, world background, etc. :wow: Best of luck at the show.

yeah her legs have just a thin coat of sculpey over the wire, which was tricky, but she didn't crack XD i kind of expected them to just explode for being so thin!

the description is just me being funny about her backstory XD the theme of the comic has to do with politics, diplomacy, and the idea that there is no such thing as a bad guy (only conflicting interests) the main thing i want to get across is that every story and character has two sides and it's up to the reader to make a decision on that conflict. i get tired of good guy/bad guy dark lord / hero knight stuff so i wanted to do something different ^^

Shades of gray, or even a whole spectrum sometimes. I've read some books touching on the same concepts, Carl Sagan and Anne Druyan's Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors standing out the most in my mind. It's a great avenue to explore and a refreshing look at why people do what they do.

A long time ago I started planning a comic that was all about clichés (all-in or all-out) had a similar political bent... just messed up. (In the end, the story was much bigger than I could handle, not even just the art.)

I've put the site on my list to check out, after I catch up on stuff. :)
