Princess Twilight Sparkle by VIIStar Princess Twilight Sparkle by VIIStar
5" Twilight Sparkle as a princess pony! Her Element of Harmony crown is removable and encrusted with blue Swarovski crystals. The gold accents are coated with glossy polyurethane so they shine!

I used a different technique for her wings and hair - fun experimenting and they turned out great!

aak, your message got buried. :c

you just send me a note or email with what you want, I quote, and if that works I make an invoice and you wait in line until it's your turn to have your piece made.  ^^

for this one, the princess twi, since i've had multiple people interested and only make her annually, will be put up for auction.

Hm, I've been thinking a little about this. I *am* interested in Twily still, but rather than go into the whole auction thing I wonder: why do you only make one a year? It is so cool and beautiful, something definitely to be shared among as many as possible. Now I understand if it's because you don't want it to turn into a serial production thing (that would be boring to make, I guess), but I'd hoped you'd make more than one. I think people would gladly pay a reasonable price for it.

I definitely recommend watching - www.dailymotion.com/video/x36l…

It's a multi tiered issue, but TL;DR -  I really don't want to spend all of my time making princess twilights, regardless of how much money i could make.

I did one remake for 2014, but the client was super rude about it not being ~exactly~ the same and wanted me to remake her for free (NOPE!).  I'm not a 3D printer, or even like remaking pieces so I went the auction route so that I could be more creative with them and the buyer would know they're not buying an exact remake.

Just remaking one piece doesn't help me get into other fandoms or sculpt in other styles, or find clients that want original content, which is what I really want to do.  I don't become a better sculptor by making the same thing over and over - I get bored, cynical, and deeply unhappy.

I think it's funny you'd say 'a reasonable price' - what does that even mean?  for some people that's quite low indeed.

Understandable. Hm, how about another version of her? As long as she's an Alicorn, I'm happy, I guess, so if you were making another Alicorn Twily, I might be interested in that.

A reasonable price is one that satisfies both the seller and the buyer. However, you're the one who sells it, so it is your decision as to what it should be - then the rest of us can decide to buy or not, just like it is with any other item offered for sale anywhere.
If you have some items you want to sell, people will look at the price tag and see if they're interested.

I guess I mostly wanted to avoid the nuisance of being overbid at the last second ("No you son of a B...erh...Brony...*I* wanted that thing!"). That is also why I never use eBay.

No worries, I could make another alicorn twi, in mare proportions, maybe in cadence proportions, but it's the princess celestia style one that I only make one of per year cause that's the one that everyone wanted.  The price would be determined by the size and how you want her details handled.

true story, i just get the 'i'm being unreasonable' when i ask for enough to survive on  ^^;

I feel bad... I was trained as an ebay sniper at the tender age of 13.... I know how it sucks to be out bid and how good it feels to be the out-bidder!  maybe keep and eye on her this week and once the auction is done decide how to continue?

She's one of my favourite sculpts from you! : ) Her face is so pretty, and her proportions are just amazing. I really love what you do with the back of the legs, making them flat - I can always tell your sculpts apart from others that way. She's beautiful, great work. < 3

This is absolutely marvelous! What did you use to make her? Also, how is the hair standing up like that? Did you have to bake the hair piece separately then glue it on? Apologies for the questions, hehe.

no worries my basic FAQ for materials and demo videos are on my journal post ^^

Hair can be keyed and baked separately if it covers the face, (fluttershy always needs this).  If it doesn't you just build another wire off the armature and use epoxy and tooling foil to support it :3
